Submitting Presentations
(Populi Support)
About this Page
There may be times where your instructor requires you to create a video, PowerPoint, or VoiceThread presentation or mock therapy session. There are many different methods to accomplish this task. However, since devices vary greatly, there is no way to create an individualized tutorial for each method. If you have a preferred method, you are welcome to use that method. However, if you need guidance, you can use the recommended methods below or contact our educational technologist, Ginger Howell at ghowell@hazeldenbettyford.edu.
On this page, you will be given tips on:
-
Method 3: How to create a video recording using Zoom and submit the link in a course.
-
Method 2: How to create a video using a smart phone, upload the video to Drop Box, and submit the link in the course
-
Method 3: How to create a video/audio recording using VoiceThread and submit the link in a course.
-
Method 4: How to create a PowerPoint or VoiceThread and submit the link in your course.
Method 1
Step 1: Creating a Recording in Zoom
If you have a Zoom account (free or paid), you can start a meeting like you normally would. Start recording and present or conduct your mock therapy session as if it was a meeting. The step-by-step directions below show exactly how to record and share using Zoom.
Please Note: This is the recommended method if you are doing a role play simulation with others that are not in the same room as you.
Method 1
Step 1: Creating a Video using a Smart Phone
Click the Apple graphic to learn how to take a video using Apple mobile products. The section called, "How to shoot video with your iPhone or iPad," details step-by-step instructions on how to use this feature.
Click the Android graphic to learn how to take a video using an Adroid phone.
Step 2: Uploading a Video to Drop Box
Sending large files to another device using email can be difficult, and large files won’t upload to Populi in a reasonable timeframe. To reduce downloading hurdles, it is recommended that you use a free Dropbox account at www.dropbox.com. The free account will allow you to store up to 2GB; therefore, you should have plenty of space for your interviewing projects. If you need more space, you can delete old projects or upgrade to a paid account. You can create a free account on your computer or mobile device; it is recommended to download the Dropbox app from the App Store.
The following is a thorough tutorial on how to create and use a free account: DropBox Free Account Tutorial Link. The video is a bit long, but it is full of great information so that you feel confident using Dropbox.
Next, download your recording to Dropbox using your mobile device. Again, I recommend downloading the free Dropbox app from the App Store. Once the app is downloaded, use the step-by-step directions below.
Please Note: If you are recording a mock group therapy session, you'll need to all be in the same room to record unlike Zoom.
Step 3: Submitting the Link to Populi
Method 3
Step 1: Creating a Video or Audio Recording using VoiceThread
If you don't want to use your phone to create a recording, you can use VoiceThread. After you create an account (described on the VoiceThread Support Site Page), follow the steps in the tutorial below.
Please Note: If you are recording a mock group therapy session, you'll need to all be in the same room to record unlike Zoom.
Step 2: Submitting the Link to Populi
Method 4
Step 1: Creating a PowerPoint/VoiceThread Presentation
Creating a PowerPoint VoiceThread Presentation can be intimidating at first. However, following the tutorials will step you through the entire process.
Click the PowerPoint icon to direct you to the PowerPoint support page. On this page you'll learn how to create a PowerPoint. You may also find it beneficial to submit a PowerPoint presentation as a VoiceThread as it packages all the elements of your presentation together. (See the link below to to learn how to create a VoiceThread.)
Click the VoiceThread icon to direct you to the VoiceThread support page. On this page you'll learn how to create a VoiceThread account, upload materials to the presentation, create narration and comments, and how to share the presentation.
